Making Leaps by Focusing on One Thing
In today’s episode: Many small business owners get stuck when they look at all the things they need to do. There are so many areas they can focus on and make a difference. But what would happen if you focused all your energy into making a difference with just one thing at a time?
I want to challenge you to make some big leaps in your business by picking something from one of the buckets below. We discuss in more detail on the above podcast episode as well.
SALES: What if you took one item and worked to increase it 10%, 50% or even more? What if you took an add-on item from being sold with one out of 10 times to 3 or 4 times? What if that item normally brought in $1,000 a year, now you would be looking at $3,000 to $4,000 more in revenue and potential profits. And this is just by focusing on one item!
PROFITS: What if you dove into your P/L and found one item you could attack and find an additional $500? Or maybe you could find a product you could work on reducing your costs? You not only reduce this one time, but it will be the gift that keeps giving you more money!
INVENTORY: Do you have an item sitting in your garage or on your shelf that you can reduce and get rid of? Maybe sell to another business owner? Sell on eBay? Craigslist? All it is doing keeping your profit tied up. Free up that cash and get rid of that inventory!
PEOPLE: Sit down with each employee and go over their gameplan. Maybe teach all your people how to handle something that the team is costing you sales and money. These few moments with each person can lead to tons of additional sales / profits.
PROCESS: Maybe you have put off working on your website email and need to find out if you are missing potential sales? By focusing on this process you will uncover any issues.
And these items are the tip of the iceberg! By focusing on one thing at a time, you free up your brain to stop being frozen and start chipping away at your to-do list and in the process creating those sales and profits that you are wanting to grow your business.
Try this simple hack and just keep rolling from one thing to another. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish in the next year
